We aim to provide a high quality range of medical services, through a team of professionals each with their own skills. We are responsive to suggestions and complaints, which should be addressed in the first instance to your doctor or the practice manager.
We provide a list of medicines for patients taking them regularly, and this acts as a re-order slip. Please hand in or post your requests at least 48 hours before you need them. You can now request that your medication is collected from the chemist - follow the instructions on the repeat slip. In order to avoid errors, we do not accept requests by telephone but you may fax your request to 01962 736034 or e-mail mhscripts.alresford@nhs.net. Your doctor will ask to see you at regular intervals, the timing of which will depend upon your medical problem.
Nurses are available for consultation most mornings and afternoons by appointment. Among the services routinely provided in the treatment room are dressings, leg ulcer care, ear syringing, blood and urine testing, removal of stitches, immunisation for adults and general advice on health matters.
All new patients are invited to a Health check within 3 months of registration. Please make an appointment for this when you first register.
We monitor chronic conditions such as diabetes, asthma and high blood pressure using the expertise of the doctors, nurses and other health professionals in surgeries and special clinics.
We hold a well woman clinic run by Sister Val Bond most Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings, by appointment. She offers cervical smears, and advice on all aspects of women's health.
Children's Developmental Checks are carried out by the doctor at six weeks and 3 years. Other checks are regularly performed by the Health Visitor.
Antenatal care is provided by all the doctors and our midwife. Classes for expectant mothers and fathers are held regularly at the Surgery.
Health Visitors hold a baby clinic every Thursday morning from 10.30. Apart from weighing and assessing your baby, this is a good opportunity to discuss any worries you may have. Baby immunisations are incorporated into this clinic. A post natal group runs periodically on Tuesday afternoons.
Family Planning advice is offered by all doctors during normal surgeries. A coil service is available through the Winchester Family Planning Service telephone no. 862144 at Friarsgate. Emergency contraception is available with a doctors appointment.
Chiropody is available by referral from your doctor for certain medical foot conditions.
Minor surgery may be performed under local anaesthetic within the surgery. If appropriate your doctor will recommend this.
Immunisations and advice on what you need are available through our Travel Service. Please pick up a leaflet at reception as soon as you know your plans.
