We have had a good response to the walk in flu clinics and by increasing the number of nurses giving the jabs few patients had to wait more than 10 minutes to get their jab and many did not wait at all.
For patients who will be 65 or over on the 31 March 2008 or are in an at risk group (see below) and have not had a flu jab yet we are now running further clinics with pre-booked times. Please ring the surgery to make an appointment.
The 3 yearly invitations to attend screening are in the course of being sent out by the screening service. Invitations are sent to female patients aged 50-70. Ladies who are 71 or over may ask to be screened by phoning 01962 824841.
The phlebotomy service at the surgery is under a lot of pressure at the present time. Patients may go the Pathology Department at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital if they wish to have blood taken before an appointment can be offered here. We must also insist that patients bring their request slips (or yellow books if on warfarin) to the appointment as the Health Care Assistant or Nurse does not have the time to investigate what tests are needed. Patients without their slip will not be tested. Patients must not self refer for blood tests.
There will not be a surgery on Friday 2 November, Monday 12 and 19 November or Fridays 23 and 30 November.
