Phlebotomy service

We have been asked to advise patients who use the hospital that only fasting and priority patients will be seen before 10.00am Monday to Friday. Routine non-priority hours are now 10.00am - 4.45pm. We are advised that it is quieter in the afternoons.

Patients who have their blood taken at the surgery should be aware that there is a strong demand for appointments, consequently we cannot guarantee an early morning slot and it may be necessary to wait a few days before there is an appointment available. Unless your doctor has expressed an urgency about taking blood this is not seen as a medical problem. Patients are encouraged to accept late morning appointments if possible to keep early appointments free for those who have to fast or cannot attend later.

Blood donors

Only 5% of the population are on the NHS Blood Donors register, we are pleased to support an initiative to boost the numbers. If you are prepared to give blood please pick up a form from the reception area and post it off.

Prescriptions

For accuracy and in order to try to keep our telephone lines clear we do not accept requests by telephone. We do take these by fax (01962 736034) or e-mail (mhscripts.alresford@nhs.net).

May we also remind patients that we ask for 2 working days notice to issue prescriptions. Please ensure that all repeat items required, and where the prescription is to be collected are ticked on the request form.

The price of prescriptions has now risen to £6.85 - for patients who have regular and multiple items it is may be worth buying a pre-paid certificate, at a cost of £98.70 for 12 months. Application forms are available from our dispensary,

Preston Candover

There will not be a surgery on Monday 14 May. We apologise again for the delay in resuming this service which has been due to the loss of the BT computer connection without which we have been unable to practice safely.
