Practice staff

We are pleased to welcome Sister Alex Williams to our Practice Nursing Team.

Flu Vaccinations

Although there was a scare that vaccine might be in short supply due to the failure of one manufacturers product we are pleased to advise patients that our supply was not affected.

We are still offering flu vaccine to patients in the following categories who are strongly advised to make an appointment to have theirs.

  • Chronic heart disease
  • Chronic renal disease
  • Chronic respiratory disease
  • Asthma and over 16 years of age
  • Diabetes
  • Immunosuppression due to disease or treatment.

Certain patients considered particularly at risk will receive a letter from us recommending that they have the vaccination.

Failures to attend appointments

Patients occasionally raise complaints that it can be difficult to get appointments with doctors or nurses. This problem could be considerably reduced if patients who have made appointments ensure they do attend or let us know if they wish to cancel. There is a worrying trend of Alresford patients failing to keep their appointments with us.

Breast screening

We are advised that invitations are being sent out over the next few months for patients to attend the Breast Screening Clinic in Winchester.

On a slightly lighter note

If you

  • Don't smoke
  • Have a good diet (lots of fruit and vegetables)
  • Take exercise (brisk walks several times a week)
  • Keep your weight in check
  • And have a glass of what you fancy (in moderation)

Then the chances of having something very nasty happen to you is very, very much reduced!
