Quit smoking
The Medical Staff at the surgery are very keen to help smokers give up. Smoking is a major
cause of disease and premature death which in turn leads to smokers relying more on the NHS
services than non-smokers.
Anyone who has tried to give up smoking will know it is far from easy - even when the risks
are understood. With this in mind Quit Smoking Clinics are running most of the time and have a
high success rate. The next clinic to be run in Alresford starts on 1st September while others
are available in Winchester and Basingstoke.
To register, or find out more, telephone 0845 602 4663.
Baby immunisations clinics
Due to staff changes we regret that we will be unable to give immunisations on Wednesdays
30th July and 6th August.

Flu vaccinations 2003
Clinics will again be running in the Autumn and we encourage everyone who will be 65 or over
by 31st December to take advantage of this free jab. Other patients who suffer from chronic
respiratory disease, asthma, diabetes, renal disease or who have immunosuppression should also
have this vaccination.
Clinic dates will be advertised in this column over the next few months.
Preston Candover Surgery
We will not be running a surgery on Thursday 21st August. Dr Lowman will be running the
surgery on Thursday 28th August.
