Dispensary
From September The Alresford Surgery will operate a dispensing service to our patients living
in rural locations. Regulations do not permit us to dispense to our patients who live in Alresford.
Similar arrangements are already seen in Ropley, Four Marks, Twyford and Sutton Scotney,
Stockbridge and Whitchurch. Pharmacies run successful businesses in five of these locations
alongside the local dispensing surgeries.
Although we will not dispense to the residents of the town of Alresford we believe there will
be improvements which will benefit all our patients. The additional income generated will be used
by the surgery to enhance the service we provide to our patients.
Our service will be organised and run by a fully trained and highly experienced Dispenser who
has worked at other local dispensing practices. She will work to national standards and will
provide the same high level of service available elsewhere in the area.
Our decision has been considered in detail, over the last eighteen months, by the Health
Authority and the NHS centrally. Neither we, nor the Authorities, believe that this will
threaten the viability of the local pharmacies which will continue to offer their usual valuable
service.
