SURGERY NEWSLETTER – SEPTEMBER 2010
Baby Clinics are Moving
Our Health Visitors are planning to run the Thursday morning clinic from the new children’s centre, ‘Sunbeams’ at Sun Hill Junior School from Thursday 9 September. The centre is able to offer more space and other facilities and we hope mums and babies will be impressed with the new set-up. Clinic will run from 10.30 – 12.00.
We will continue to run our immunisation clinic on Thursday mornings at the surgery from 11.00 – 12.30. This cannot move with the health visitors because a doctor needs to be available when immunisations are being given.
Seasonal Flu Jabs
These jabs will be available to all patients who will be over 65 as at 1st April next year or are in one of the ‘at risk’ categories below:
- A chronic respiratory disease
- Asthma – that requires continuous/repeated use of inhaled steroids or has required hospital admission
- Chronic heart disease
- Chronic kidney disease
- Chronic liver disease
- Chronic neurological disease
- Diabetes
- Lowered immunity (due to disease or treatment such as steroid medication or cancer treatment, HIV, asplenia or splenic dysfunction)
- Any other serious medical condition – check with your doctor if you are unsure
- Those in receipt of a carers allowance or the main carer of an elderly or disabled person whose welfare would be at risk if you fell ill.
We will be running our usual walk in clinics from 1.00 to 2.30 on the following dates:
Wednesday 29 September, Wednesday 13 October and Tuesday 2 November.
Preston Candover Village Hall Thursday 30 September 10.00 – 10.30am
These dates may be subject to alteration and changes will be advertised here next month, at the surgery and on our website (www.alresfordsurgery.co.uk)
We will advertise the dates for visits to the local residential homes in next months issue. We will also run clinics by appointment in November; dates will be advertised here next month. We would recommend that patients who have difficulty standing for any length of time wait for these clinics.
More information on the vaccination will be included next month.
